Big 6 and Big 8 Bets

A Big 6 Bet is when a wager is placed that a 6 will be rolled before a 7 and a Big 8 Bet is when a wager is placed that an 8 will be rolled before a 7 is rolled. These “Big” bets pay even money if/when the shooter throws which ever number was bet on before a 7 is thrown. If, however, the 7 is thrown first, the bet is lost. These bets stand if anything else is rolled and continue to stand until either a 6, 8, or 7 is rolled. “Big” bets become active during the Come Out Roll and stay active during all other rolls, in fact, they may even remain past the end of a round. This will happen when the round ends on “Point” roll of 4, 5, 9 or 10. These bets can be placed, changed or removed at any time before any roll. To be completely honest, wagering on a regular six or an eight the exact same as placing a bet on the “Big” 6 or 8, with the glaring exception of the payout. If you bet on a regular 6 or 8, your payout is 7 to 6 where as if you bet on the “Big” 6 or 8, your only paid even money. Also, because of the huge difference in payouts, there is a massive difference in the House Edge of each - for the “Big” bets, the House Edge is 9.09% while it is only 1.52% on the place bets. This is exactly what makes the Big 6 and Big 8 Bets one of the worst, if not the worst, bets you could possibly make anywhere in an entire casino, whether online or in a land based casino. The Big 6 and Big 8 Bets are placed in the box that is just above the corner of the Pass Bet Line on the lower right hand side of the table, right in between the two sides of the Don’t Bass Bet area. Maybe it’s the placement that makes some people make this bet - truthfully, there’s not much more of a reason, when you can make a Place Bet and have a better payout AND a House Edge that is a lot more in your favor.
In order to offer a bit of perspective between the Big 6 and Big 8 Bets, we would like to show you a table that shows the payouts for the other common bets on the table.
