Field Bets

The Field Bet is one of the many different types of bets you can make while you are playing the exciting game of Craps. This is one of the smarter bets that you can make but you don’t have great odds, the bet gives the house about a 5.5% edge. The field is an area on the table that is just past the don’t pass line. This is a very non-threatening bet and can be made on any roll of the game. This is a one roll bet, which means that once the dice roll one time you either win or lose and have re-bet.

The basis of this bet are very simple if the shooter rolls a 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11 or 12 (which are the numbers in the field area) you win and if the dealer rolls a 5, 6, 7, or 8 you lose. You don’t have to put the bet in one specific place in the field just anywhere you like and you will win if any of those numbers are rolled. The area that is set aside for the Field Bets takes up a good bit of the layout of the table at each end. When you are thinking about making this type of bet there are some things that you should know about including how does it pay, well the bet usually pays even money. You should also know what the odds of your losing that bet are for example there are 16 ways for you to roll the numbers in the field bet, however there are 20 ways to roll the five, six, seven and eight. This might make you think that you shouldn’t make this bet, but if you take a closer look you have about the same odds with many other bets on the table.

It all comes down to the fact of how you would like to bet. There is also something that you should know about that is not well known. In some casinos they have replaced the Big 6 and Big 8 areas with what is called the No Field Bet. This bet is a much better option than the Big 6 and 8 bets because it pays on three different numbers 5, 6 or 8. Just like the Field Bet this is a one roll bet, unlike the predecessors, but the odds of you winning on this bet are much better. The Field bet is one of the top three types of bets in this game, especially for beginners because it is so easy to learn and fun to bet on. People like to bet on something that they know about and learning the pros and cons of this bet will help in your decision about where and what to bet on.
